Buyer authentication
As a security measure, your bank may send you an authentication request when you pay by credit card:
A pop-up window from your bank may appear asking you for some information:
- Your PIN code or password depending on the device used ;
- The code it sent you by SMS ;
- Authentication by digital key (your fingerprint) or by facial recognition.
The authentication method may be different depending on the type of bank card you have or on your bank.
Tip: Make sure your bank details are correctly saved by your bank and familiarize yourself with the authentication method they use.
What is the purpose of the authentication?
For digital transactions, banks are now required to provide Strong Customer Authentication (SCA).
Authentication is used to verify that you are the person making the payment and to protect you against fraud, it is mandatory!
