How to recognize fraudulent messages and phishing attempts?

They appear to be official messages, but are deceptive and are sent by malicious people to hack into your online accounts or to steal your identity. They may pretend to be:

  • People from the Clozen team ;
  • Transport providers working in collaboration with Clozen ;
  • Our payment service providers ;
  • A member who might be interested in purchasing one of your items ;
  • A person from any other service that you may use via Clozen ;

Warning :

Malicious people may try to steal your personal information, login details or sensitive data. Phishing attempt messages may contain links to non-recommended sites that should not be clicked on. They may also be accompanied by attachments and infected files.

Do not attempt to comply with their request and do not click on any suspicious links. Please contact our team if you have any suspicion of malicious activity.

What does a phishing attempt look like ?

On the Clozen platform:

In a fraudulent message, a scammer may ask you to provide:

  • our login details, access codes to your bank account or access to any service used when you buy or sell on the Clozen platform ;
  • Your contact information of any kind (bank, telephone), email address, identity documents or any other information that would allow them to impersonate you or hack into your account ;
  • Pictures of your items for sale, via SMS, WhatsApp, or other similar applications.

Make sure you only communicate via the Clozen chat thread about your transactions and do not disclose your contact details to your buyers or sellers under any circumstances.

Please note :

We recommend that you do not click on any suspicious links or other URLs unrelated to our Clozen site. If you click on a link and are redirected to a page that does not belong to the Clozen platform, you will be informed that you are leaving our site.

Outside the Clozen platform:

The messages may contain the same type of elements but also:

  • Links to malicious sites where they will try to retrieve your sensitive data ;
  • Infected files in attachments ;
  • Requests to which you must respond as quickly as possible or something bad will happen to you.

Please note :

All of these messages may look confusingly similar to messages from Clozen (same logo, similar colours and fonts and identical buttons). Clozen's name may also appear in the email address.

Warning: A URL of the real Clozen website will always contain Clozen.ch/.

Messages received outside the Clozen platform (by email):

  1. Our official email addresses are support@clozen.ch and noreply@clozen.ch, our emails will always be sent to you via this address. The email addresses will only contain lower case letters.
  2. Like the message interfaces, the scammers will use very similar addresses, such as service.Clozen@gmail.com; Clozen.important@gmail.com; commande@clozen.cloz.ch...etc. ;
  3. Read very carefully and pay attention to typos, word order and the address field. Do not rely on the sender's name or the subject line.

If you have any doubts about the authenticity of the message, please let us know.

To summarize

If we need any further information, we will ask you for it via the Clozen Help Centre.
